Our skin changes over time, losing its youthful look and giving way to wrinkles, laxity, cellulite and stretch marks. Carboxytherapy is a safe, minimally invasive, clinically proven method to rejuvenate, restore and recondition the skin. Results can be rapid and dramatic. The treatment has no downtime and a single session can take between fifteen minutes and an hour. A simple and safe procedure for beautiful, younger looking skin.
Our bodies naturally produce carbon dioxide, but when injected directly to specific areas, it can encourage an increased flow of oxygen, improving circulation. The increase in oxygen underneath scarred or darkened skin can enhance blood circulation and new cell production, helping to improve the texture and brighten the skin on the treated areas. In addition to restoring skin to a more natural colour, it also works to reduce inflammation, further enhancing results of the treatment.
The improvement in circulation and increased collagen production to the treated area works to restore damaged skin. When used for fat reduction, it encourages the disposal of fat cells. This cutting-edge treatment can also help in aftercare programmes, since it can help to enhance the healing process on the treated areas. It is important to note that as with any form of treatment, the concerns that can be addressed with Carboxy Therapy are unique to each patient and something that should be discussed with your Treatment Coordinator.

Stubborn cellulite and fat can be very challenging to treat. Carboxy Therapy injections are designed to dissolve fat cells, releasing the fat and helping to improve microcirculation. As a result, it can be a great inch loss, fat reduction and cellulite treatment, helping to give you a smoother, more refined, sculpted figure. Carboxy Therapy can be suitable for the most challenging localised areas of fat such love handles, saddle bags, tummy roll, thighs and double chin.
Carboxy Therapy involves a series of small injections with a very fine needle being made to the area of concern. Carbon dioxide is injected under the skin to encourage the flow of oxygen filled red blood cells. These cells disperse their oxygen to the problem area and then absorb the injected carbon dioxide. As part of our normal bodily functions, the cells then carry the carbon dioxide back to the lungs where breathing naturally exhales it from the body.
Carboxytherapy is a relatively safe procedure with almost no side effects. People may have bruising at the injection site, specifically in the arms and legs. This bruising should clear up within a week. People who get the procedure for fat reduction or cellulite also shouldn’t immerse themselves in water for 24 hours, including swimming or using a bathtub.
When carboxytherapy is used to treat stretch marks and scars, it’s relatively painless. This is because scar tissue doesn’t have nerves. You may feel an itching sensation as the stretch marks are distended during the procedure. The itchiness should resolve in about five minutes.
People who use carboxytherapy for treating cellulite and fatty deposits may feel pressure during the injection, similar to the sensation felt during a blood pressure test. This is caused by the expanding gas. Treated areas will feel warm and tingly after the treatment for up to 24 hours, as the carbon dioxide gas does its job and circulation improves. However, you should be able to perform your normal routine after the procedure is over.
Although there is no evidence that this treatment is harmful for pregnant women, you would generally be advised to wait until after you have given birth before embarking upon a course of treatment.
The benefits of Carboxytherapy include but are not limited to:
The number of treatments you need depends on the severity of your skin condition.
We usually recommend a course of between 6 and 12 treatments, at intervals of a week, for the best result for most conditions.
For new stretch marks that are not severe, a single session may be enough. Most, however, may need treatment once a week for 2 to 4 weeks. Older stretch marks may need 3 or 4 treatment sessions at intervals of 3 or 4 weeks.
For cellulite, you should see a smoother appearance to your skin immediately. Your skin should continue to become firmer over time, as your blood circulation improves and you burn away excess fat.
The duration of the results depends on the area treated, but in most cases should be about six months.
We recommend top-up sessions every 6 months, and continuing with a healthy lifestyle, to maintain the results.
