Over the years, men and women experiencing hair loss have tried a whole range of different treatments in an attempt to promote regrowth. This condition can result in low self esteem however groundbreaking technology called PRP is being used to resolve this problem.
PRP therapy has been used in many fields of medicine, and even adopted by professional football clubs to help in the healing of injuries to their players. Other high profile athletes include Tiger Woods who received four treatments following knee surgery. Although thought to be new treatment it has been used since the mid-1990’s in dental and oral surgery and to aid in tissue recovery following plastic surgery.
A blood sample is taken and placed in a centrifuge, this spins at a predetermined speed to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the other factors in the blood. The resulting plasma is known as liquid gold as it contains stem cells, these are important growth factors and assist in tissue regeneration and general healing. PRP is concentrated blood plasma that contains approximately three times the number of platelets found in normal circulating blood in our body
These platelets promote healing and accelerate the rate and degree of tissue regeneration and the formation of new cell growth. In respect of hair loss and hair transplantation PRP can be used for the purpose to stimulate inactive or dormant hair follicles in a variety of hair loss conditions and to stimulate grafted follicles into the growth phase. PRP is a natural medical procedure performed in our Clinics for hair stimulation, helping thinning or miniaturised hairs to improve the hair calibre and thickness
Clients have reported that the administered injections can be uncomfortable but not painful. If you are worried about any discomfort a topical pain relief can be applied.
Most clients require 3-6 sessions with each treatment spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart. Dr Qureshi will determine the most suitable course of treatments during our complimentary consultation. Responses to PRP vary and is specific to everyone.
