ROSACEA

Rosacea

When your skin doesn’t look as smooth and blemish free as you’d like it can be difficult to feel completely confident about yourself. Rosacea is a very common skin condition that causes facial redness and pimples on the nose, cheeks, chin and forehead and often looks like adult acne.

As well as causing the sensitive skin on your face to be red and sometimes inflamed and swollen, rosacea can lead to soreness and a burning sensation around the eyes and eyelids. At the Elixir Cosmetics, we have rosacea treatments that will help control irritation and symptoms.

Despite little being known about the main cause/s of rosacea, the condition is quite common. In fact it is estimated that rosacea affects around 10% of the population, although severity of the condition varies. People with fair skin seem to be more susceptible to rosacea, but the condition – which cause unsightly or extreme redness to all or part the skin’s surface – can also occur in people with darker skin, including those patients of Asian and African origin.

We have various cosmetic treatments that can help to reduce rosacea symptoms and improve the appearance of the skin. Book a consultation to learn more.

Why consider rosacea treatments?

The main reason people choose rosacea treatments is because they offer non-surgical solutions to the symptoms this skin condition can present. These include redness to the nose, chin and cheeks, as well as visible blood vessels. Treatments at Elixir Cosmetics are varied and versatile, meaning we can also help to rejuvenate the skin as well as reduce rosacea indications.

For those coping with rosacea, unfortunately other distressing symptoms of the condition can develop over time such as painful burning and stinging sensations across the skin on the face, permanent or often aggressive bouts of facial redness, papules and pustules (which manifest as spots) and even small blood vessels in the skin becoming more prominent. This is often common across the cheeks and nose. In very severe cases, the skin (usually on and around the nose) can thicken and enlarge.

Who is suitable for rosacea treatments?

The signs and symptoms of rosacea vary from one person to another, which is why our dermatological team tailors the treatment programme based on the individual’s specific needs. Our therapists often advise using the Lumeeca treatment to bring the condition under immediate control, followed by long-term use of the ZO peel programme to maintain remission.

What treatments can help treat rosacea?

Understandably, rosacea is a most unwelcome condition of the skin that causes stress and embarrassment, resulting in many patients are seeking medical and cosmetic help. There is currently no cure for rosacea, but treatment can help control the symptoms. Long-term treatment is often required, although there may be times when your symptoms improve and you can stop treatment temporarily.

We can offer patients several rosacea treatments in order to reduce facial redness and visible facial blood vessels. Here are some of our treatments available to help you.<

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy

Platelet rich plasma therapy is a popular option for those with rosacea, as it helps to invigorate the skin and uses your own cells to rejuvenate the skin safely and naturally.

What is a consultation for rosacea treatments like?

Your therapist will use a number of tools to diagnose the condition by examining your skin and asking questions about your symptoms. We often ask about possible triggers you may have experienced. Using the Visia skin scanner to identify any other concerns, our therapists will help devise the best course of treatment for you.

What happens during these treatments?

Treatments vary depending on the patient and the level of severity your rosacea presents. It’s important to remember the condition is not dangerous but treatment for rosacea can make a marked difference to how you feel about your skin.

Are these treatments painful?

These treatments are considered to be comfortable and the Elixir Cosmetics team will ensure you’re at ease before, during and after treatments.

How many treatments do I need?

Several sessions are suggested in most cases in order to get the best results. We also need to do a thorough skin assessment prior to treatment to ensure you’re getting the best care possible.
